Avant-Garde is a four-week intermediate spin pole series exploring ascensions, descensions, and the art of innovating shape. This series builds a strong foundation of shapes and transitions while offering both technical guidance and creative exploration.
Together, we will challenge the body’s strength and stamina, creating space for experimentation, curiosity, and unconventional movement. Through ascending sequences, shape-shifting pathways, and descending patterns, you’ll begin to see that shapes exist everywhere—often where we least expect them.
The intention of Avant-Garde is to expand your perspective on ability and performance. It is about discovering opportunity within limitation, reframing what feels impossible, and celebrating the strengths you already carry. You’ll leave this series not only stronger, but more inventive, confident, and open in your movement.

About Tia
With over 33 years of movement experience and 22 years of teaching, Tia has dedicated her life to the art of dance. Trained professionally and competitively from childhood through adolescence, she went on to study dance and other commercial art forms in college before expanding her performance career as a burlesque entertainer and club dancer. Thirteen years ago, she discovered pole dance and became captivated by its unique fusion of artistry and strength.
A lifelong performer in competitions, shows, and clubs, Tia has always loved the stage—but her deepest passion lies in teaching and creating. Known for never being able to end a class on time, she pours her energy into helping students understand proper engagement and technique, while reminding them that grace and beauty in dance do not require extreme strength or flexibility. Inspired by her students and guided by the motto “mistakes are the mother of creation,” she believes every stumble can spark something new.
As both an artist and an athlete, Tia strives to remain authentic to her own conversation and abilities. What she loves most about pole dance is the way it allows her to intertwine the spiritual and physical worlds, creating a practice that is both powerful and deeply expressive.
